I was very proud to accept the certificate on behalf of Nash & Co for working towards becoming a Dementia Friendly firm. Plymouth is the first city in the UK to become a Dementia Friendly City and is now a model for other cities, both in the UK and abroad.
Dementia is a devastating condition that affects millions of people worldwide and thousand of people within the city of Plymouth alone. It affects both the individuals and their families and or carers who look after them. People can feel lonely, isolated and afraid. They need support and understanding in the hope that in the early stages they can still continue to live independent and fulfilling lives. In the last few years there have been a few people with immense drive and passion who have worked hard towards the goal of making Plymouth Dementia Friendly and I was very proud to be part of that.
Congratulations to those who have done so well to get to this place of Plymouth becoming the first city in the UK to be Dementia Friendly.
