I have written a book and there are lots of steps to go through before the book can finally be published and I get a box of books arrive on my doorstep!
One of the key things in choosing the title these aspects are important, there are reasons behind the title and subtitle.
My book is called “Compassion with Dementia – an essential guide to living well with dementia”.
I wanted it to be called Compassion, because having compassion is important, people affected by dementia really appreciate kindness shown to them. I wanted the title to include the word with, that implies being able to be alongside a person as opposed to completely separated from them. Dementia is prevalent within communities, it is part of life, part of our human existence and therefore part of the group that we belong to. I wanted to get away from the idea that there is a them and us, people with dementia and people without dementia. Even if people are not affected directly by dementia now, they may well be in the future and so there no them and us, is only us! Dementia is the only cause of death in the world health organisation global list that is increasing in numbers, so anyone not affected by it may be in the future.
Compassion with dementia, still doesn’t give enough information about what the book is about, so the subtitle, an essential guide to living well with dementia signals people to what the book is about. Every aspect of this title has a purpose and has been considered.
My book will shortly be published, I am in the process of finalising the details of its publication and will provide more information shortly. I am very excited about this project and have learnt a lot along the way. Stay tuned for more information………..
